Science Olympiad Workshop May. 10, 2012

The California Science League, in coordination with the NorCal Science Olympiad, is hosting a three day Science Olympiad Summer Workshop for students, parents, and teachers/coaches. This workshop includes a one day field trip to Nasa/Ames Exploration Center and a tour of the Google facility.

2012 NorCal State Competition Apr. 20, 2012

The 2012 NorCal State Science Olympiad was held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Visalia, CA at the College of the Sequoias.
Here are the results:

B Division:
1st place: Winston Churchill MS (Sacramento Region)
2nd place: Elkhorn MS (San Joaquin Region)
3rd place: Mission Valley MS (Bay Area Region)
4th place: John Barrett MS (Sacramento Region)
5th place: Sierra MS (San Joaquin Region)

C Division:
1st place: Mira Loma HS (Sacramento Region)
2nd place: Palo Alto HS (Bay Area Region)
3rd place: Sheldon HS (Sacramento Region)
4th place: Milpitas HS (Bay Area Region)
5th place: Bella Vista HS (Sacramento Region)

Winston Churchill MS and Mira Loma HS will move on the National Science Olympiad competition in Orlando, FL later in May. We wish both teams the best of luck!

NorCal Information Mar. 28, 2012

The packet that I gave you on Saturday contains documents that you need to complete and send to Jennifer Janzen as soon as possible.

The Sacramento region is responsible for providing Event Supervisors for the following events:

Awesome Aquifer B
Gravity Vehicle C (Covered)
Helicopters C
Mission Possible C
Water Quality B/C

Each school is responsible for providing two "assistants" for the NorCal competition to assist with the events listed above or other NorCal events.

If you have a qualified person who is able to run one of these events, please let me know ASAP.

2012 Sacramento Regional Science OlympiadMar. 28, 2012

The 2012 Sacramento Regional Science Olympiad was held at CSUS on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Ten middle school teams and twenty-four high school teams competed in the competition.

Second Coaches Meeting Feb. 27, 2012

The second coaches meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Mira Loma High School in room F-3 at 4 PM. The address for Mira Loma is 4000 Edison Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821. Please see the link below for a map of the Mira Loma campus and park in the East Parking Lot. (F-3 is located in the round building on the map.)

Please remember that your volunteer lists are due on Wednesday.

First Coaches Meeting Jan. 23, 2012

The first coaches meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Mira Loma High School in room F-3 from 4-5 PM. The address for Mira Loma is 4000 Edison Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821. Please see the link below for a map of the Mira Loma campus and park in the East Parking Lot. (F-3 is located in the round building on the map.) We will be providing refreshments for this meeting.

The purpose of this meeting is for planning, schedule review, event discussion, and volunteer recruitment. The meeting will be relatively short and informal; however, if needed, sufficient time will be allowed for B and C schools to work collaboratively and discuss both old and new events.

2012 Regional Registration Nov. 5, 2011

Update (Jan 10, 2012): The 2012 Sacramento Regional Science Olympiad registration deadline has been extended to January 27, 2012.

The 2012 Sacramento Regional Science Olympiad registration forms are now available in the Links section.

Upon receipt of the registration form and payment, your team number will be assigned and an events manual will be mailed to you. Schools will be allowed to register two teams; however, each registered team must have a separate coach of record.

The registration deadline is ~~Friday, January 13, 2012~~ Friday, January 27, 2012.

New Coaches Meeting Oct. 24, 2011

On Wednesday, October 26, 2011, there will be a coaches meeting for NEW coaches or NEW schools that are interested in starting a Science Olympiad team for the 2012 Sacramento Regional Science Olympiad.

The meeting will be held at Mira Loma High School, 4000 Edison Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821, in room F-3 from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM. Please park in the East parking lot.
